From alleviating neck and back pain to improving ear infections in children, regular chiropractic care can benefit your health in many ways. 1. How and why does chiropractic work?
Your body is a complex system that is capable of self-healing and self-regulating. Your brain sends vital messages through your nerve system to control every facet of your body’s existence from movement to tissue repair. When the joints of your spine become misaligned (subluxation), this causes nerve interference which affects the messages sent to your body. Chiropractic care uses specific spinal adjustments to remove subluxations and restore that essential communication system.

2. Do I have a slipped disc?
A disc is a tough outer ring that holds a jelly-like substance and acts much like ball bearings between vertebrae to facilitate joint movement. Although you may have heard the term “slipped disc” because of the way they’re attached to the vertebrae, they actually can’t slip. Instead, you may experience herniation, tears, thinning or even collapsed discs.

3. Do I have a pinched nerve?
Although it can occur, experiencing a pinched nerve is┬ávery rare. Since the weight of a dime can reduce a nerve’s functionality by as much as 60 percent, it’s more likely that subluxations are causing nerve interference. Chiropractic care focuses on removing subluxations to improve nerve function.

4. How do you get subluxations?
Subluxations can be caused by physical, emotional and chemical stressors. Slips and falls, bouts of anger or fear, and alcohol and drug use are all things that can cause subluxations in your spine.

5. How do I know if I have a subluxation?
You may have several subluxations and not be aware of them. The only way to know for sure is to have an analysis done by a qualified doctor of chiropractic.

Here’s the bottom line in chiropractic care — if you’re alive with subluxations, then you’re better off alive without nerve interference.
